Oshimili South Reaps Digital Dividends as EKO Tech Graduates Showcase Innovation
“Seeing these young people succeed is the real reward. This is why we invest in programmes like this; to create opportunities, reduce unemployment, and secure the future of our people,”

The Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Dr. Kelvin Obi Ezenyili has once again reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, as beneficiaries of the EKO Tech Empowerment Programme on Tuesday, January 14, showcased innovative digital projects that highlighted the impact of the initiative.

The programme, implemented in partnership with Design Africa, was designed to equip young people with relevant digital skills for today’s economy. As part of the intervention, the Chairman’s administration provided the participants with Apple laptops to strengthen their learning experience and boost their productivity.

Speaking at the project presentation, the Chief Executive Officer of Design Africa, Amb. Jerry Fuludu, commended the Chairman for what he described as a visionary investment in the future of Oshimili South youths.

“This programme is a practical pathway to job creation and economic independence. What we have seen today confirms that when young people are given the right tools and support, they can compete and excel anywhere,” Fuludu said.

The students, who presented a range of digital and tech-driven projects, impressed guests with their creativity and technical competence, a development many described as clear evidence of the success of the initiative.

One of the best graduating students, Future, gave an emotional testimony that drew applause from the audience. She expressed deep gratitude to the Chairman for the opportunity, revealing how the training has transformed her life.

“Before now, I never imagined I would get to this level. Today, I earn up to ₦50,000 weekly, and sometimes I even reject jobs because of the high demand for my services,” she said. “I am sincerely grateful to the Chairman for believing in the youths of Oshimili South.”

Reacting, the Chairman congratulated Future, and the other graduates, noting that their success stories justify his administration’s focus on technology-driven empowerment.

“Seeing these young people succeed is the real reward. This is why we invest in programmes like this; to create opportunities, reduce unemployment, and secure the future of our people,” he said.

Out of the 23 youths sponsored for the programme, 20 successfully completed the training and received certificates, while three were given the opportunity to repeat the programme, in line with what the Chairman described as his administration’s inclusive leadership philosophy.

He assured that his government will continue to prioritize initiatives that empower youths, promote innovation, and position Oshimili South as a hub for digital skills and opportunities in Delta State.
