A frontline aspirant for the Delta State House of Assembly seat representing Warri South Constituency 2, Prince Mike Owhoyovwe Okumagba, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the constituency to remain calm amid growing tension over reports that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori had endorsed the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Benson Obire, for a second term.
Okumagba made the appeal while addressing party faithfuls at a seminar organised by Concerned Citizens for Good Leadership at Idama Hotel, Warri, where participants also endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for second terms in office.
He urged party members not to be distracted by rumours, expressing confidence in the leadership of Governor Oborevwori to ensure fairness and justice in the party’s affairs.
“Our leader and governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is a grassroots politician who has the interest of the people at heart and listens to their voices,” Okumagba said.
He condemned what he described as attempts by some leaders to use the governor’s name to mislead party members and promote unpopular candidates who lack broad acceptance among the people.
Prince Okumagba also appealed to stakeholders and supporters across Warri South Constituency II to maintain peace and trust the process ahead of the party primaries.
The constituency comprises Pessu Ward 7, Okere Ward 8, Igbudu Ward 9, Edjeba Ward 10, Okumagba I Ward 11 and Okumagba 2, Ward 12.
According to him, the APC under its current leadership remains an inclusive platform designed to accommodate both legacy members and new entrants, while fostering unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He noted that the party’s leadership was focused on harmonising interests, strengthening internal cohesion and building a stronger political structure for future electoral success.
“The APC is an all-inclusive party. Our goal is to bring different interests together as one strong family for victory in 2027,” he stated.
Okumagba further advised all aspirants and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid actions capable of creating division within the party.
“We must operate as one family. No one should leave the party because together we can achieve greater success,” he added.
