The arrest was made on Wednesday May 6, at about 7:06 p.m. by officers attached to the Buffalo Patrol Team while carrying out a strategic security operation at the bridge, which serves as the boundary between Delta and Anambra states.

Three suspected armed men have been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command after two pump-action guns and seven live cartridges were recovered from their vehicle during a stop-and-search operation at the Head Bridge, Asaba.

The arrest was made on Wednesday May 6, at about 7:06 p.m. by officers attached to the Buffalo Patrol Team while carrying out a strategic security operation at the bridge, which serves as the boundary between Delta and Anambra states.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the officers intercepted a black Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep with registration number ABJ 254 CD for routine checks.

He said the occupants of the vehicle were identified as Chukwu-Emeka Okeke, 30; Ndudo Tochukwu, 37; and Oraka Chukwu, 34.

Edafe stated that the officers, acting on reasonable suspicion, conducted a detailed search of the vehicle and discovered two pump-action guns loaded with seven live cartridges.

“The suspects were immediately arrested and taken into custody, while the recovered exhibits were secured,” he said.

He added that the suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue to determine the purpose of the weapons and whether they are linked to any criminal activities.

Commending the officers for their vigilance and professionalism, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing across the state.

“The Command will continue intelligence-driven operations aimed at curbing the movement of illegal arms and other criminal activities across Delta State,” the police commissioner said.

The latest arrest highlights ongoing efforts by the Delta State Police Command to strengthen security surveillance at key entry and exit points across the state.
