The Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ighoyota Amori, has congratulated the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, on his election as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria.

Senator Amori gave the commendation in a statement issued on Monday in Asaba by his Public Relations Officer, Joelson Wilson, describing Guwor’s emergence as a proud moment for Delta State and a testament to his exemplary leadership credentials.

According to the statement, the Chief Adviser said the unopposed election of the Delta Speaker at the Conference’s extraordinary session in Abuja affirms the confidence his colleagues across the federation repose in his capacity, experience and legislative competence.

“I heartily congratulate Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor on his well-deserved election as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria,” Senator Amori said.

“This historic feat is not only a personal milestone, but a resounding endorsement of his leadership acumen, integrity and commitment to strengthening legislative governance in Nigeria.”

Senator Amori noted that Guwor’s previous service as Treasurer of the Conference since 2023 provided a solid foundation for his elevation, adding that his emergence positions Delta State prominently on the national legislative map.

He further described the election as a reflection of the progressive leadership ethos being nurtured in Delta State under the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

“The choice of Rt. Hon. Guwor to lead this important national body affirms the quality of leadership Delta State continues to offer the nation. It also reinforces the growing influence of our state in shaping policies and strengthening democratic institutions at the sub-national level,” the statement read.

The Chief Adviser expressed confidence that Guwor would provide purposeful leadership to the Conference, foster unity among Speakers across party and regional lines, and advance legislative independence, accountability and innovation in line with his acceptance speech.

“His clear vision for a Conference that is action-driven, reform-oriented and people-focused aligns with the aspirations of Nigerians for responsive governance and credible democratic institutions,” Senator Amori added.

He prayed for wisdom, strength and divine guidance for the Speaker as he assumes the responsibility of leading the Conference, while urging members to give him the needed support to succeed.

Rt. Hon. Guwor was elected Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria at a general meeting held in Abuja on Monday, alongside other principal officers, marking a significant milestone in his legislative leadership journey and for Delta State as a whole.
