The Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ighoyota Amori, has commended the Head of Service, Dr. Mrs. Mininim Oseji, for what he described as a remarkable and impactful 2026 Public Service Week celebration, saying the programme has further strengthened the morale and productivity of the state’s workforce.
Speaking in Asaba on Thursday, Senator Amori said the week-long activities, which culminated in the grand Public Service Week celebration, underscored the invaluable contributions of civil servants to the successful implementation of the M.O.R.E. Agenda of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
According to him, “The Public Service Week celebration was not just a ceremonial event; it was a fitting recognition of the dedication, sacrifices and critical role of civil servants in driving the M.O.R.E. Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.”
The Chief Adviser lauded Governor Oborevwori for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of workers, particularly for the prompt approval of funds for the successful hosting of the celebration.
He noted that the Governor’s swift support reflected the confidence and trust he reposes in the Delta State Civil Service as the engine room of government.
Senator Amori also appreciated the Governor for approving the payment of the 13th-month salary for civil servants, describing the gesture as another demonstration of a worker-friendly administration.
“The payment of the 13th-month salary will undoubtedly boost workers’ morale, enhance efficiency, increase productivity and encourage greater commitment to service delivery,” he said.
The Chief Adviser reserved special commendation for the Head of Service, Dr. Oseji, for introducing reforms and initiatives that have continued to transform the state’s public service.
He praised the reformed dress code, noting that it has improved the image, discipline and integrity of the service.
Amori also highlighted the Head of Service’s book review initiative, which rewards outstanding participants with cash prizes, saying the programme has rekindled the reading culture among workers despite the demands of their daily responsibilities.
“Readers will always be leaders. The book review initiative has inspired civil servants to embrace continuous learning and personal development,” he stated.
He further applauded the sporting and recreational activities organised during the celebration, noting that they fostered friendship, teamwork and healthy interaction among workers while creating a relaxed atmosphere outside the usual pressures of the workplace.
Senator Amori equally described the Public Service Awards ceremony as a major source of motivation for deserving workers, saying public recognition of excellence would encourage higher performance across the civil service.
He also commended Governor Oborevwori for tripling the cash rewards presented to award recipients, describing the gesture as a powerful incentive for greater dedication and outstanding service.
According to him, “When workers know that excellence is recognised and rewarded, they become more committed to giving their very best. The Governor’s decision to increase the cash rewards will certainly inspire even greater performance.”
Expressing optimism about the future of the Delta State Civil Service, Senator Amori said the initiatives introduced during the Public Service Week would leave a lasting impact on workers.
He expressed confidence that civil servants would return to their respective offices with renewed enthusiasm, stronger commitment and greater passion for delivering quality service to the people of Delta State.
He emphasized that the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori would continue to prioritise the welfare, motivation and professional development of civil servants as critical partners in the sustainable growth and development of the state.
