A frontline aspirant for the Delta State House of Assembly, Constituency 2 seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Prince Mike Okumagba, has officially stepped down from the race in support of the incumbent; Hon. Benson Obire.

In a statement released made available to newsmen, Hon. Okumagba described his decision as “deliberate and patriotic,” noting that it was reached after extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders.

According to him, the move was driven by his loyalty and commitment to the unity and leadership structure of the APC.

“This decision was not taken lightly,” he stated. “It comes after deep reflection and in full recognition of the values that define our great party; discipline, unity, loyalty, and respect for constituted authority.”

The former aspirant emphasized that the interest of the party and the collective progress of the constituency must always take precedence over personal ambition. He reaffirmed his commitment to the APC and pledged continuous support for the party’s success in the forthcoming elections.

“My loyalty to the leadership structure of our party remains unshaken, and I will continue to uphold the principles of unity and progress without hesitation,” he said. “Politics, to me, has never been about self alone, but about service, sacrifice, and the greater good of our people.”

Hon. Okumagba also used the opportunity to appreciate members of his campaign structure, supporters, youths, women groups, elders, and political associates who stood by him throughout his aspiration.

“Your encouragement, prayers, sacrifices, and confidence in my leadership have been deeply humbling. I do not take your support for granted,” he added. “There can be no leadership without followership.”

While urging his supporters not to lose faith or be discouraged by the development, he assured them that the political movement remains strong and united. He further encouraged his supporters to stay close to the platform for information during the primaries.

Political observers within Delta State say the development is expected to strengthen party unity in Constituency 2 as the APC intensifies preparations for the polls, with Hon. Benson Obire now receiving the backing of key stakeholders and supporters aligned with Hon. Mike Okumagba’s political structure.
