The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Health Monitoring, Dr. Christopher Otene, has charged newly recruited staff of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC) to uphold professionalism, accountability and excellence in service, in line with Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to accessible and quality healthcare for all residents.

Otene gave the charge on Tuesday 2nd September during the welcoming and onboarding ceremony for new staff of the Commission at the DSCHC Conference Hall.

He described the contributory health scheme as a key instrument for advancing the Governor’s vision of universal health coverage in the state, noting that the Governor considers the scheme a vital vehicle for ensuring that healthcare reaches every resident.

He commended the Commission for surpassing the three-million-enrollee milestone, describing the achievement as a significant step towards expanding healthcare access across Delta State.

Otene urged the new staff to see their appointments as a call to public service and to contribute meaningfully to strengthening the State’s healthcare system.

Earlier, the Chairman of the DSCHC Board, Dr. Austin Obidi, welcomed the new employees and urged them to uphold professionalism and recognise themselves as ambassadors of the Commission.

The Director-General, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, charged the new staff to demonstrate commitment, discipline and excellence, stressing that the Commission’s mandate is ultimately about improving healthcare access and saving lives.
